A view to the staircase in the central (administrative) portion of the 1872 Maples Building at Willard State Hospital. This building was built on a miniature version of the Kirkbride model. A few key things can be noted from the architectural clues in this photograph: the original arch, into which a door was retrofitted. The fact that the railing on the staircase was deemed worth saving when it was determined that the building would be left to rot. And the simple truth that they sure don’t build ‘em like they used to!
I don’t know why he saved my life. Maybe in those last moments he loved life more than he ever had before. Not just his life - anybody’s life; my life. All he’d wanted were the same answers the rest of us want. Where did I come from? Where am I going? How long have I got? All I could do was sit there and watch him die.
When you separate an entwined particle, and you move both parts away from the other, even on opposite ends of the universe if you alter or affect one, the other will be identically altered or affected. Spooky.
